Thank you for your interest in membership with the Junior League of Charlotte. At this time, we are not able to accommodate additional requests for sponsors for our next new member class beginning in August 2010.

Please check back with us via the website in August 2010 if you are still interested in the Junior League of Charlotte and need help finding a sponsor for the January 2011 new member class.

General Information:

There are two (2) Provisional courses each year. Course 1 (August – December) and Course 2 (January – May). Both courses will be limited to 90 prospective members, and qualified applications will be selected based on a lottery system, rather than a first come- first serve basis.

Eligibility for Membership

A prospective member is eligible for Provisional membership if she:

  • Meets the age requirement (23 years old by May 31, 2010).
  • Resides in Mecklenburg County or in contiguous counties.
  • Has an interest in voluntarism.
  • Is willing to make a commitment to community service
  • Has an interest in developing her potential for participation in community affairs

Registration for the Sponsorship Workshops

Prospective Member(s) and her Sponsor are REQUIRED to attend one of the two Sponsor/Prospective Member Workshops. All workshops will be held at the Junior League Building.

Sponsor Workshop Dates  

Thursday, October 7, 2010
7:00 – 8:30 pm

OR

Thursday, October 28, 2010
7:00 – 8:30 pm

 

These are the only times the Sponsor may receive the Sponsor Kit, the Prospective Member Kit, the Membership Proposal Form, as well as important information about sponsorship and provisional membership.  If you cannot attend either of these meetings, the next sponsorship opportunity will occur in May 2011.  We invite you to participate at that time.

 Applications are due by TBD at 5pm. Qualified Applications will be selected based on a lottery system, rather than a first come first serve basis.

General Course Requirement Information
  • Provisional Meetings – Attendance is required for course meetings. The provisional course schedule includes:
    • Kickoff Meeting *
    • Wearhouse Scheduling *
    • Coursework 1 *
    • Coursework 2 *
    • Community Project Hours – 3 hours
    • Attend 3 Committee Training Sessions
    • Graduation
  • 30 Wearhouse Hours
  • Monthly General Membership Meetings – Required attendance at (2) Membership Meetings prior to graduation.
  • Provisional Membership Dues of $165.
  • Provisional Course Fee of $100.
  • Wearhouse Quota of $100 in merchandise or cash.
  • Fundraising requirement of $50 in hours or tickets met.

Absence Policy

  • One absence will be permitted for the above provisional meetings (*).
  • Anyone who misses more than 2 meetings would be asked to resign.
  • Anyone who resigns in good standing can participate in an upcoming group/course.
