The Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, to developing the potential of women and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
In May 2012, the JLC Board of Directors and membership voted for the JLC’s next Cornerstone Project to be focused on supporting healthy families in Charlotte’s Reid Park Community. The JLC Cornerstone Project, Benefitting Families of Reid Park and Beyond, is in strategic alignment with the JLC’s Healthy Family Initiative, which begins in June of 2013. May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, a time when advocates draw attention to the mental health issues that affect as many as one in four Americans. Because of the stigma associated with mental illness, many people are too ashamed to seek help. The JLC is committed to breaking that stigma through the work of our Mental Health Awareness Committee, which created a trio of award-winning documentaries. The JLC loves kids! In fact, teaching and empowering kids to lead healthy, happy lives is part of our mission. Learn more about about Kids in the Kitchen, play a video game with our cute JLC Puppets and discover the other activities and events we offer to educate and entertain children.
