Junior League of Charlotte Hosts Kids in Motion
Festival provides entertainment and healthy tips to families
Charlotte, NC, April 15, 2008 – The Junior League of Charlotte (JLC) will host its third annual Kids in Motion at Myers Park Traditional Elementary School on Sunday, April 27 from 12 to 5 p.m. Admission is $2.00 for the outdoor festival, which showcases cars, trucks and other vehicles to children while parents are provided tips on improving the mental, dental and physical well-being of their children.
Kids in Motion is a community event that supports the JLC’s Healthy Child Initiative, a five-year focus on improving the mental, dental and physical health of Charlotte’s children. More than 4,000 people were in attendance last year.
“Kids in Motion is an ideal environment for the entire family to learn, through educational games and interactive stations, how to practice healthier lifestyles all while having fun,” said JLC President Twan Ellison.
In addition to Kids in Motion, the JLC will host numerous lemonade stands throughout Charlotte and Mecklenburg County between April 20 and April 26 as part of Lemonade for the Library. The JLC will host its largest stand outside Toys & Co. in Cotswald Shopping Center on Saturday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those in attendance may enter a drawing for a $50 store credit at Toys & Co.
Sales from the lemonade stands will go toward the purchase of books and carts for the Mobile Book Carts program at Levine Children’s Hospital where the JLC opened the Family Resource Center, a multi-media library, in October. The Family Resource Center and Lemonade for the Library also support the JLC’s Healthy Child Initiative.
