8 medium apples 1/2 cup red currant jelly 1/4 cup water 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg Drop of red food coloring
Peel, core, and slice apples in eighths. Place in 8-inch or 9-inch baking dish. Heat jelly and water slowly until jelly is partially melted. Remove from heat. Add lemon juice and nutmeg and red food coloring. Pour over apples, completely covering apples with liquid. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until tender. Baste liquid over apples once or twice while cooking.
