Sixth Annual Southern Summit
A daylong program of dialogue and interaction

Charlotte, NC — February 7, 2007— The Junior League of Charlotte (JLC) is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Sixth Annual Southern Summit, a daylong event of dialogue and discussion scheduled for Saturday, February 24, on the campus of Queens University of Charlotte.  This event brings together 200 interested and involved individuals from around the Charlotte region with the mission of building a greater sense of shared community for our rapidly growing and increasingly diverse region.

The Summit starts with an “ice-breaker” breakfast panel and continues with break-out sessions throughout the day on various topics such as the value of art in today’s society, the evening news, etc.  Participants come back together for a lunch panel that encourages “out of the box” thinking, and end the day with networking at a wine and cheese reception.  The Southern Summit 6 begins at 8:30 a.m. and includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, and an evening cocktail reception.  The fee is $95 and need-based scholarships are available.

“The Southern Summit is an open, engaging environment that encourages participation from people from all walks of life,” states Butch Rosen, one of the founders of the Southern Summit event.  “This is a safe place that provides opportunity for people who wouldn’t normally engage each other to talk about a range of issues that affect everyone.”

“The mission of the JLC includes improving our community through the volunteerism of our members,” states Trish Hobson, 2006-2007 President of the JLC. “The Southern Summit brings together the entire community to focus on building a shared vision of how we can continue to make Charlotte a better place to live. It is only natural that the JLC would want to be a part of such an important event geared to shaping the future of our community.”

The Southern Summit is a unique event at which you can expect to find diversity, varying viewpoints, and lively discussion, and the Junior League of Charlotte (JLC) is pleased to be a part of this great event again in 2007.
