Junior League of Charlotte

Advocacy and Public Awareness

The role of Junior League of Charlotte’s Advocacy and Public Awareness Committee is to facilitate the advocacy of the positions that JLC has identified as areas of concern and to examine those legislative and community issues that have a direct impact on our neighborhoods and those constituents to which JLC has been an additional voice and hand of service. Moreover, JLC has looked beyond immediate needs and initiated research of those issues that require further intervention and formulated positions or set of actions on behalf of the JLC.

The Board of Directors and the Advocacy and Public Awareness annually research community needs and issues to determine the annual Advocacy Issue for the Junior League of Charlotte.

The 2015-2016 Advocacy Issue is Access to Healthy Food in the Charlotte community. The Advocacy Team consisting of the Advocacy and Public Awareness Committee, State Public Affairs Committee and Public Policy Institute will work together to educate Junior League of Charlotte members and community stakeholders on issues related to Access to Healthy Food and how each member of our community can make a difference.
